Pantera est un groupe de metal américain originaire de Arlington, Texas, fondé par les frères Abbott, Dimebag Darrell (Guitare) et Vinnie Paul (Batterie), et actif de 1981 à 2003.Si, au départ, le groupe présente certaines caractéristiques apparentées au glam metal, sa musique relève avant tout du heavy-metal. Cependant, à partir de 1990, le groupe prend un tournant radical vers le Thrash metal.
A cause de long conflits au sein du groupe, Pantera se sépare en 2003. L'année suivante, l'ancien guitariste du groupe, Dimebag Darrell, est tué sur scène alors qu'il faisait un concert avec son nouveau groupe, Damageplan.

Rainbow est un groupe de hard rock/heavy metal britannique fondé en 1975 par Ritchie Blackmore, jusqu'alors guitariste de Deep Purple. Sur les trois premiers albums, le chant est assuré par Ronnie James Dio.
Le groupe se sépare en 1984 quand Ritchie Blackmore rejoint de nouveau Deep Purple, mais un ultime album et un live seront produits lors de la reformation entre 1993 et 1997.
